Village of the Children is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It was founded in 2008 with a vision to care for orphaned, abandoned, and severely impoverished children. Our inspiration is the teaching and example of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible. Our first project is an orphanage in Cachora, Peru which has been operational since August of 2008. Future projects include a trade school and a pastor training facility.
The Orphanage in Cachora
High in the Andes mountains of Peru, near the village of Cachora, stands Village of the Children. It is a Christian ministry built to care for orphaned children – precious little ones who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned.
Too many children in Peru are at risk because of extreme poverty, alcoholism, violence, AIDS, and other factors where their parents are either dead or unable to care for them. The vision of Village of the Children is to provide a stable, loving, home for these children so that they have hope and a chance to reach their true potential. We take seriously God’s command to care for the vulnerable and the needy. But we can’t do it alone. We need your help!
Would you consider sponsoring a child or becoming a partner? Maybe you would like to go on a short term mission trip. There are many ways you can help that will make an eternal difference in the life of an orphaned child. Ask us how you can become a part of this ministry.
About the Orphanage
Village of the Children occupies seven acres outside of Cachora. It currently consists of four buildings, which each house approximately 10 children and a set of house parents. We are currently caring for 35 needy children with three sets of house parents, an administrative couple, and a cook. The children go to school in the nearby village of Cachora. They are currently farming the remaining land and growing some of their own food. They have established a church a the orphanage that meets regularly.
And if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will become like midday.
